But if they repent, and perform the prayer, and pay the alms, then let them go their way; God is All-forgiving, All-compassionate." 9:5 [The verse of the sword] "Fight against those who (1) believe not in Allah, (2) nor in the Last Day, (3) nor forbid that which has been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger (4) and those who acknowledge not the religion of truth (i.e. Islam) among the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians), until they pay the Jizyah with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued." 9:29 "And fight them until there is no more Fitnah (disbelief and polytheism: i.e. worshipping others besides Allah) and the religion (worship) will all be for Allah Alone [in the whole of the world]. But if they cease (worshipping others besides Allah), then certainly, Allah is All-Seer of what they do." 8:39 "And know that whatever of war-booty that you may gain, verily one-fifth (1/5th) of it is assigned to Allah, and to the Messenger, and to the near relatives [of the Messenger (Muhammad SAW)], (and also) the orphans, Al-Masakin (the poor) and the wayfarer, if you have believed in Allah and in that which We sent down to Our slave (Muhammad SAW) on the Day of criterion (between right and wrong), the Day when the two forces met (the battle of Badr) - And Allah is Able to do all things." 8:41 [Muhammad gets 20%] "Fight the unbelievers around you, and let them find harshness in you." 9:123
The Prophet, may he rest in peace, said: “If you come upon them, deal so forcibly as to terrify those who would follow, that they may be warned. Make a severe example of them by terrorizing Allah’s enemies.” Ishaq: 326 “Our onslaught will not be a weak faltering affair. We shall fight as long as we live. We will fight until you turn to Islam, humbly seeking refuge. We will fight not caring whom we meet. We will fight whether we destroy ancient holdings or newly gotten gains. We have mutilated every opponent. We have driven them violently before us at the command of Allah and Islam. We will fight until our religion is established. And we will plunder them, for they must suffer disgrace.” Ishaq: 587 “I have been given five things which were not given to anyone else. Allah made me victorious with terror. Earth was made for me.... Booty was made lawful for me yet it was not lawful for anyone else. I was given the right of intercession on the Day of Doom. Muhammad: also know as the Messenger, the Apostle and the Prophet Muhammad was born in Mecca in the year 570 CE. Forty years later, 610 CE, while meditating in a nearby cave, he had a vision: The Night of Power. Muhammad later determined he was visited by the angel Gabriel who brought a message from the one God, Allah. The Night of Power is Muhammad’s first recitation and it is recorded in the Qur’an as the 96th surah. For the next 22 years, Muhammad, the Prophet, the Messenger, the Apostle, revealed Allah’s word as relayed to him by Gabriel. His followers wrote down or memorized his recitations. Twenty years after Muhammad’s death, the third caliph (successor to the Prophet) compiled the recitations into 114 small booklets which became chapters or surahs of the book know as the Qur’an. The surahs were arranged according to length, longest first, shortest last. Terminology Qur'an: a book of Muhammad's recitations. Hadith: narration's of Muhammad’s speeches, sayings, deeds, and actions. Sunna: a well trodden path—authenticated hadith. Sharia: Islamic law, is entirely based on the Quran, the sunnah and hadiths in that order. The Quran, sunnah and hadiths are the three most important elements—the foundation—of Islam. It's all about Muhammad. To understand Islam, study Muhammad. "The words and deeds of Muhammad have been moving Muslims to commit acts of violence for fourteen hundred years now. They are not going to disappear in our lifetimes; nor can the be negotiated away ... Bearing in mind that most Muslims will continue to regard Muhammad as 'excellent example of conduct.' " Robert Spencer, The Truth about Muhammad: Founder of the World's Most Intolerant Religion, page 194. Other scholars compiled volumes of hadith years after Isaq completed his work. There are hundreds of thousands of hadith. Muhammad’s biography, titled Sirat Rasul Allah, was written by Ibn Ishaq in 750 CE, 118 years after his death in the year 632 CE. It is the earliest record of Muhammad’s life and the formation of Islam: there is no earlier or more accurate source. No copy of Ishaq’s original manuscript exists, but in 830 CE Ibn Hisham edited and abridged—sanitized might be a better term—Ishaq’s Sira. In the foreword of Hisham’s revision, he explained: ‘I am omitting things which Ishaq recorded in this book … things which are disgraceful to discuss and matters which would distress certain people.’ Alfred Guillaume’s translation of Hisham’s revised Sirat Rasul Allah was last published by the Oxford Press in 2002 under the title The Life of Muhammad. Other 9th century scholars (e.g., Abu Muhammad bin al-Tabari, Imam al-Bukhari, Muslim Ibn al-Hajjaj) compiled volumes of hadith years after Isaq completed his work. There are hundreds of thousands of hadith.
